Situated right in the heart of the citadel, The Standard Inn, one of the most loved and popular pubs in Rye has reopened it's doors to welcome back old regulars and make new friends alike.

Years of plaster board and bitumen have been pulled away to reveal the gem of the 15th Century  pub with beautifully carved beams and warming open fires for cold frosty days.

Being awarded Camras 'Best Pub in South East England 2 years consecutively and  featured in The Times 'Britain's 25 best places to eat at the weekend", we have built a reputation for delicious seasonal cooking, a passionate team using abundant local produce such as Romney Marsh Lamb, Winchelsea beef to fish caught and delivered daily from Rye Harbour.

Along with an interesting and varied wine list we have a great selection of craft beers and local ales including our own Standard Inn Farmer Ale.

"At the bar you will find locals, walkers, writers, farmers and travellers stopping by for a drink or a meal. At the  weekends the pub is vibrant and lively  - a meeting place at the heart of the community with locals and travellers alike."
